The Brunei dollar (code: BND), has been
the currency of the Sultanate of Brunei since
1967. It is normally abbreviated with the
dollar sign $, or alternatively B$ to distinguish
it from other dollar-denominated currencies.
It is divided into 100 sen (Malay) or cents (English). The Brunei dollar is issued by the Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam.

He ascended the throne in 1967. At center, bunga kunyit or turmeric plant, known for its medicinal qualities. Back: Lapau or Royal Ceremonial Hall in Bandar Seri Begawan. It is where royal ceremonies of Brunei are traditionally held. The present Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, was crowned in this hall on August 1st, 1968, beneath the interior's golden-domed ceiling.

Back: Masjid Jame Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, the largest Mosque in Brunei, named after the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. In its center is a golden-plated dome, surrounded by four minarets with golden-plated domes. The mosque is situated in Kampong Kiarong, a few kilometers from the capital.

He ruled from 1950 to 1967 and is regarded as the architect of the modern Brunei. Misai kucing (java tea) flowers at center. Back: The Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque in Bandar Seri Begawan. Built in 1958, it sits on an artificial lagoon. The 52-meter tall golden domed structure has Italian marble floors and walls. The mosque is the largest in the Far East and is considered to be among the most beautiful in the world. A stone replica of a 16th-century barge rests in the Brunei River in the front of the mosque.
